How can you get into Human Resource Management

How can you get into Human Resource Management? What degree do you need for that and what kind of experience? I always hear that they get paid so incredibly well and the job seems relatively easy compared to other corporate jobs. do you really need to have the degree in human resource management or can it also be in other business areas? does human resource management really pay that well and if yes, why does it?
