How can you get into Human Resource Management
How can you get into Human Resource Management? What degree do you need for that and what kind of experience? I always hear that they get paid so incredibly well and the job seems relatively easy compared to other corporate jobs. do you really need to have the degree in human resource management or can it also be in other business areas? does human resource management really pay that well and if yes, why does it? Corporations - 3 Answers Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions : 1 ya 2 you need a HR management degree or equivalent! doh! but keep in mind a company that might employ 200 people may only have 1 HR person. therefore, jobs are spars and you will be lucky to get one!! to the additional stuff, again, think about it 1 to 200, or even 5 to 2000! it pays because its not worth studying for 4 years because you will never find a job! its the intensive for the risk! and amazingly, the best way into HRM is the HRM degree course! 3 You'd need a degree in Human Resources Management...and yes, that's what it's called. Here's a link for degree info at a local college of mine. http://www.naz.edu/dept/som/grad/hrm.cfm?gclid=CP2JzZ6FipsCFQJN5QodNkT4og |

Well, let's see, you can get a job in human resources, as a manager.
2
Many different positions in the human resources field - benefits, discrimination, et al.
3
There are many different avenues you could take. If you're a new grad without experience, you might think about what aspects of what you studied you enjoyed the most. There are entry level jobs in benefits, salary administration, HR programs, training and development, recruiting, etc. If you've got some experience then your options widen. You can be an HR generalist (someone who understands all aspects of the HR world) or you could be an HR business partner ('attached' or aligned to part of the business, working with the managers to make sure they are managing their 'people' assets). The big buzz in HR today is the outsourcing of alot of the administrative HR functions. So you could look at an HR consulting firm. The other big trend is in the area of 'Talent Management'. This involves recruiting, developing, and retaining top people for the company. There are also many consulting firms who do this Talent Management stuff, as well as in-house teams at larger companies. Hope that helps.

Human Resorces can be a rewarding career. Positives: It definitely appeals to the people side of business, and avoids overly-analytical perspectives. You are definitely in the know, and will know many corporate secrets...without the rumor mill feeding you misinformation. Its also a wide discipline...training, counseling, recruiting, and researching are all under the wide swath of HR. Negatives: The downfall is you deal with people's problems oftentimes...which can stink. Also, you officially become part of the "establishment" part of an organization...which reads NO FUN! In terms of salary, obviously this depends on experience and location. If you are fresh and have no experince, chances are you will start pre-generalist and make between $28-$33K a year. After a few years of getting 2-5% raises your top pre-generalist salary will top out at 40K or so. Generalists and HR managers can make between $35K and $60K depending on experience and whether your company lags or leads the market in terms of salary. Some of the most monetarily rewarding HR jobs can be recriters...some companies use a commission structure on top of a base salary that rewards you for the length of a recruitee's tenure. I have three friends in this field that range from $30K for a junior level, $70-90K for a senior headhunter, all the way to $150K for a guy that started his own recruiting business. These are not set in stone amounts...remember that many components make up a salary (your negotiation, experience, company policy, geography etc).
Is this a good career path?

To make a company, an enterprise work, you need all kinds of resources: financial resources, material resources like machines and equipment, you need usually real estate (buildings). But al this doesn't make any sense if you don't have human resources (people). the essentail difference between the latter and the prior ones is that people (human resourfecs) have a will or call it motivation, consciousness etc. Human resources (most of the tile ploural becayse you need more than one person to make a company work) management is the business discipline that helps companies motivate people to join the company and to strive together in an aligned way for goals that have been set forth by its leaders. There is bad and there is good HR management. The good HRM helps companies motivate people in such a way that people's individual goals are also satisfied: can be money, self realisation, being able to be creative and innovative, learn, develop, grow as a person ... there are as much more individual goals as there are people. Good HRM understands these needs and how the company can satisfy them whilst at the same time making people satisfy the company goals. When HRM achieves this than one can really speak of an engaged workforce. The opposite is when people feel exploited: the company does not or unsatisfactory satisfy people's basic (money) and personal goals. I hope this helps. Marc

You can get your master's in whatever you want, it doesn't have to reflect your bachelor's, as long as any prerequisites are met. That being said, I could see a degree in Psych being incredibly useful for a career in Human Resources. Makes sense to me.
2
Yes, it makes sense as concepts from Psychology are used everyday in Human Resource Management. Just make sure that you fulfill the prerequisites needed early on in your Master's Program. Another related option, since you already have your Bachelor Degree in Psychology, would be to get a Master's Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. These people work hand in hand with HR personnel, oftentimes writing up tests used to determine who would be the best candidate for the job, how to boost company morale, how to boost productivity, etc. Look at the website below for further information on this Degree and Career Path.

Some experts assert that there is no difference between human resources and personnel management. They state that the two terms can be used interchangeably, with no difference in meaning. In fact, the terms are often used interchangeably in help-wanted ads and job descriptions. For those who recognize a difference between personnel management and human resources, the difference can be described as philosophical. Personnel management is more administrative in nature, dealing with payroll, complying with employment law, and handling related tasks. Human resources, on the other hand, is responsible for managing a workforce as one of the primary resources that contributes to the success of an organization. When a difference between personnel management and human resources is recognized, human resources is described as much broader in scope than personnel management. Human resources is said to incorporate and develop personnel management tasks, while seeking to create and develop teams of workers for the benefit of the organization. A primary goal of human resources is to enable employees to work to a maximum level of efficiency. Personnel management can include administrative tasks that are both traditional and routine. It can be described as reactive, providing a response to demands and concerns as they are presented. By contrast, human resources involves ongoing strategies to manage and develop an organization's workforce. It is proactive, as it involves the continuous development of functions and policies for the purposes of improving a company̢۪s workforce. Personnel management is often considered an independent function of an organization. Human resource management, on the other hand, tends to be an integral part of overall company function. Personnel management is typically the sole responsibility of an organization̢۪s personnel department. With human resources, all of an organization̢۪s managers are often involved in some manner, and a chief goal may be to have managers of various departments develop the skills necessary to handle personnel-related tasks. Hope this helps. -Michael

in a perfect competitive market & in the open market if you want to maximize your profit then you have to manage the human resource more technically. an example- suppose the market price of a product is $10 (you can't increase it as the market is perfectly competitive) your cost in total of that product is $8 then ur profit is $2 If u want to increase the profit then u can't increase the price providint the same quality but u can reduce the cost. there is a problem, you can't change the price of the rawmaterial, then you have to concentrate on your human resource so that they can produce & work more efficiently. human resource is the only living being where you can add more efficiency through effective and efficient management.

I graduate from college May 2010 with a Business degree and a concentration in HR. Although, my school requires and internship to graduate I may not be able to find a job afterwards. I guess the internship is going to be your stumbling block if you can't find a job to be able to get the internship is any part of your military career applicable to the internship?
2
I built a strong career in temporary staffing. I started as the recruiter and worked up to branch manager. Many managers in the staffing industry transition into HR...it's especially easy because in staffing, you have regular contact with every HR manager in the business. Good luck to you!
3
Join your local Society for Human Resource Management chapter, and go to their meetings to network. These are some of the best people to meet to learn more about the field and openings in the field. Some chapters actually announce job openings at their meetings others have job boards for their members. Also, if your school has a student HR group, join that as well. Are you working anywhere now? If you are, would they be willing to let you job shadow someone in the HR department? Being a non-traditional student is actually something that works in your favor, in my opinion. HR typically is a field for more mature workers, as HR handles more sensitive issues and has to be concerned about confidentiality. Good luck!

I think first of all you should read some books on how to start a business. Make a plan how you'll set up things and Analyse these things: Market Research, competition in ur area, registration of your firm, partners if any, location of the office, a website and the most important part is contracts from the corporates. Dont jump into any business without doing a proper market research. Calculate before hand that how much business is available in your area and how much competition you'll have to face.

Amongst other disciplines, Project Management encompasses HR Management. With most companies, if they are in the process of development, they will task a project management team to oversee a business transition. HR is one of the most important aspects of those plans...however...the entire plan falls under the larger umbrella of Project Management. More responsibility means more bucks.

In Project Management (PM), you are managing all the resouces, like machinery, raw materials, humans, money etc. to reach a goal in a specified period of time. But Human Resources Mgmt (HR) is concerned in humans only. Both are great but totally different. In the long term, one has to establish himself in the field and acquire diverse skills to grow up. This will give you better paychecks. So it will be bettr to select the domai which suits you the best. That pays better in the long run

They are pretty similar in terms of being rewarding, but for different reasons. Project Management will net you the best salary, and there's a world of industries you can work for. Almost any manufacturing sector industry uses one form of PM or another, as well as any company that develops in-house Information Systems solutions. IT Project Management, or any technical sector (military systems, aircraft, space) can open doors to much bigger things, such as being the Director of NASA. That's not to say that HR can't make you money, but a supervisory, management, or some specialist position would be required. There are plenty of general office admin-type jobs in HR that don't pay too well. Of course, a lot of reward can come from being directly influential in the lives of people, and some say there is no greater reward.
Which is more rewarding when it comes to salary, and having a fun job?

Being in HR myself, I would have to say HR is more rewarding. You have the opportunity to make a difference for the employees and help them feel they have a rewarding position.

consider how the overall goals of each organization is different/similar. this might give you clues as to how they would staff their place non-profit: need to save as much $$ as possible; they might hire lower-wage people and train them on the job For-profit, also looking to save $$ but are selling a product that has to compete with other businesses so they might be more willing to pay better people to do the job Also: try to break down the project into smaller more reachable goals. it sounds like you are already overwhelmed, just by the idea and you haven't even started

How do you get started in a career in Human Resource Management
How do you get started in a career in Human Resource Management?
I am going into my senior year of college, and I think HRM is for me. I just don't know where to look for jobs in that area? Are their HRM firms? Or would I apply directly to a company? I am going to talk to my career adviser soon, but I figured I would ask Yahoo first. Thanks

Okay there are head hunters. These are companies that are contracted by companies to recruit good executives and employees for them you can start working with these companies. Most of these head hunter companies have complete facilities. Consider joining also training companies. These are companies that conduct team building seminars and other things for companies they also audit training needs for companies. Lastly you can apply directly with a company that has an HR department. There are several sections in the HR department. These are the recruitment section that screen applicants that apply for work in the company, Salary administration section this is the section that prepares the payroll look after the health of the employees and the training sections that evaluate the training needs of each division or department of the company. You can ask if they have these sections in the HR department and select what department you want to join. Training and recruitment are the most interesting sections as far as I know in an HR department good luck

Look for internships or entry level HR administration positions to get experience. Join the local SHRM chapter to network. There are so many resources there! As a student you can get discounted membership in national SHRM and most local chapters as well.

Please help me in questions in human resource management
Please help me in questions in human resource management? Please...iam weak in human resource management and i have 2 questions which i have to solve for tomorrow so anybody good in human resource management answer plz, first...microsoft has characterized its assistive technologies as ''enabling the workplace'' rather than the employee...do u think most companies see the workplace as the problem instead of the disability? why or why not?, second...think of some assistive technologies that could help people with disabilities perform jobs...prepare a list of technologies and the jobs they could be used for Homework Help - 2 Answers Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions : 1 most people see the individual as more of a problem than the workplace. some disabilities can be accommodated quite easily, and that is how the law has been written "reasonable accommodation" not jump through hoops for everybody 2 Wikipedia on "assistive technologies" gives many examples. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assistive_technology Assistive technologies empower the disabled person by enabling the workplace. A strong case can be made that reasonable additions of assistive technology help the company by allowing disabled persons to bring their skills into play. Probably companies initially see the disability as a problem because it forces initial outlays that don't bring immediate return. They change their views only when they begin to reap the profits of the work enabled by assistive technology. If this or any other answer to your question helps you resolve this issue, please select a "best answer." This motivates people to help you and rewards their research in your behalf. Cheers, Bruce |

Performance management is about making sure the organization reaches its goals- usually by making processes more efficient. Think of making an assembly line or a filing system more efficient. Human resource management deals with the organization's relationship with their employee- health benefits, hiring practices, individual performance evaluations, etc. Wikipedia has a good article on performance management... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Performance_management

You should get a business degree with a major in Management. This is the closest you can get to an actual HR degree. There will probably be several HR related classes you can take as electives. Check the management major course list. You shouldn't major in any of those majors you listed if you want to work HR. HR is business, those aren't business degrees.

Professional organizations like SHRM (Society fro Human Resources Management) and WorldatWork generally have job boards you can look at. As far as large companies, many are always looking for someone who wants to get in on the ground level of HR Admin work. Pick a specialty once you've worked with several groups. As a number cruncher I chose Compensation, technically gifted people may do HRIS, if you're the friend that always settles disputes and calms otehrs down go into Employee Relations, etc.

There is no such MBA. Universities don't grant MBA in information systems, or MBA in finance, or MBA in marketing. MBA means Master in Business Administration. The MBA is a general degree preparing students for management positions in any level of a business, up to CEO. MBA students study accounting, finance, marketing, management, statistics, economics, strategy, policy, and other courses. Many MBA programs offer concentrations in these and many other fields, but that amounts to only 2-3 courses in your chosen field in the second year of study. Many students avoid a concentration and take a variety of elective subjects to gain a broader background. By the time you finish the first year you'll be able to decide which concentration interests you. You don't become a specialist in a field with 2-3 courses. It generally takes a year of concentrated study. The MBA is not like an MS degree that concentrates study in a single field and prepares students for high level staff or research positions. The MS typically requires an undergraduate education in the field in which you want the MS, or a closely related field. A finance major does not get an MS in chemistry, and a biology major does not get an MS in accounting. If you want to specialize in a particular field other than business administration, such as finance, marketing, operations management, human resource management, or a non-business field such as public health, or public administration, you should get an MS degree in that specialization. MBA programs accept students in any undergraduate field. They prefer students who do not have a business background because they give you the business training but they cannot provide the broad background that managers should have. I have taught MBA students with degrees in Music, Medicine, Dentistry, Law, Psychology, Political Science, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, and many other fields. Most MBA programs prefer students with 2-3 years work experience after the first degree, but many accept students right out of college if they have good grades and a high GMAT score. Some MBA programs are designed specifically for new college graduates without work experience. The Official MBA Guide provides a lot of information about the MBA degree and MBA schools and programs. It's a comprehensive free public service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. It allows you to search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, executive, and accelerated), and by listing your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. Schools report their accreditation status, tuition cost, number of students, class sizes, program length, and a lot of other data. Schools provide data on entrance requirements, program costs, program characteristics, joint degrees, and much more. You can use the Guide to contact schools of your choice, examine their data, visit their web site, and send them pre applications. You can see lists of top 40 schools ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and other criteria. It's the best service available at http://officialmbaguide.org.

Corporate restructuring is usually a euphemism for "down-sizing". HR's role, in a nutshell, is to help determine who gets laid off and what kind of severance pay the former employees will get. In a merger, two companies combine resources, including people. There is a good chance, in a merger, that some positions between the two companies will overlap and not all employees from both companies will have positions in the new, combined company. Again, HR would decide who goes and who stays. It may be a little more complicated than that, but that's the gist of it.

I have an MBA in Human Resource Management and am trying to find a job in it
I have an MBA in Human Resource Management and am trying to find a job in it.?
I have taught Human Resource Management, helped find and interview possible employees and have done many seminars. What am I missing here? Why is it so difficult to find a job in HR? I am very passionate about HR and would be an excellent employee. I loved going to school for it. I have a very good work history. I was a computer programmer for quite a few years and have been a financial advisor for 4. I'm constantly networking, am always sending resumes out and I can't find a job in it. I know I can't be a HR Director off the bat but I don't want an entry level position either. With my work experience and education, I can help a company so much and make a difference. If you have any advice, I would really appreciate it. I even have my own hour long, call in radio show that I love. I'm very personable and easy going and make everyone comfortable.

Although you would think that People Skills would be top of the list of skills important for success in human resource management, my experience says otherwise. Most organizations simply see people as a commodity to be used to turn a profit and so the skills important for success in human resource management become more to do with organizational, persuasion and negotiation skills coupled with administration. http://www.career-consulting-limited.com/managing-people.html is a useful place to go for more info.
3
-Written & verbal communication skills -Ability to multi-task -Follow up on every thing -Know federal, state and local employment laws -Strong Interpersonal skills -Ability to train employees and management team -Know your organizations rules/policies and procedures -Ability to mediate

Some of the roles played by HR Manager are: -planning, e.g staffing -mediating, e.g industrial relations -auditing (monitoring), e.g performance management, compensation -co-ordinating, e.g managing health and safety -facilitating, e.g training and development In order to perform those roles effectively, the following skills might be useful: - communication skills: vertical, lateral - negotiation skills - interviewing skills - quantitative skills (for use in planning and decision making) - strategic thinking skills and understanding of: - the environment (includes political, legal, social) - the theoretical foundations of HRM - the linkage between HRM and other functional areas in the organization also: -EQ, IQ -cultural awareness, diversity Just my humble opinion.

A Human Resource Manager! Every Company with over 20 employs have one or their looking for one!!!!
2
An associate degree will increase your options much more than a mere high school education, but you will be much more limited than you would be if you earned a bachelor degree. It is not likely that you can get an entry-level management position with and associate...shoot for a B.S.
3
Your degree should qualify you for a good job in a Human Resources department of an organization. As you check job listings, check under human resources. Then you'll see the kind of jobs available. You can always call businesses or other organizations and ask if they have a human resources department. Then ask how they list job openings. It would be great at this point for you to get advice from someone in the Human Resources field. Does your school offer job placement assistance? Did you have a teacher in human resources that you liked? Is there an organization of human resource professionals in your area (many areas have them)? It's fine to ask people if they have time to advise you on your job search. Or do an internet search on jobs available in the human resource field. Once you do your research, you'll be better able to find jobs that will value and use your skills. Good luck!
4
The typical entry level position to get into human resources is an HR Assistant. In most larger companies, this person functions in an administrative role, however you would be dealing with confidential (employee related) information. You can grow into other functional areas of HR from there (recruiting, training, payroll, benefits) but most of those areas will require additional training/classes that some companies are willing to pay for.
5
You will typically start as an HR assistant. You learn the role (roughly 2 years) and after you get experience needed you can either get promoted into an HR manager (when the position becomes available) or you can apply as an HR manager at a different company. Or, you can try to be an HR manager at a smaller company. Bigger companies need experience. Then after about 2 years at a smaller company you can move to a bigger company.
6
You can qualify as a junior consultant
