How do you get started in a career in Human Resource Management

How do you get started in a career in Human Resource Management?
I am going into my senior year of college, and I think HRM is for me. I just don't know where to look for jobs in that area? Are their HRM firms? Or would I apply directly to a company? I am going to talk to my career adviser soon, but I figured I would ask Yahoo first. Thanks

Okay there are head hunters. These are companies that are contracted by companies to recruit good executives and employees for them you can start working with these companies. Most of these head hunter companies have complete facilities. Consider joining also training companies. These are companies that conduct team building seminars and other things for companies they also audit training needs for companies. Lastly you can apply directly with a company that has an HR department. There are several sections in the HR department. These are the recruitment section that screen applicants that apply for work in the company, Salary administration section this is the section that prepares the payroll look after the health of the employees and the training sections that evaluate the training needs of each division or department of the company. You can ask if they have these sections in the HR department and select what department you want to join. Training and recruitment are the most interesting sections as far as I know in an HR department good luck

Look for internships or entry level HR administration positions to get experience. Join the local SHRM chapter to network. There are so many resources there! As a student you can get discounted membership in national SHRM and most local chapters as well.
